RIIOHS205 Approved Traffic Controller Course - As per current Qld legislation
RIIOHS205 Approved Traffic Controller Course is targeted at people who wish to be a Traffic Controller, as required under Queensland State legislation. Traffic Controller is a course that allows participants, upon successful completion, to control trafific with a stop/slow bat. There are no levels for Traffic Controller.
Important: Please be advised, Traffic Management is the signage around work sites and other traffic situations. There are four levels to Traffic Management. • Manual of Uniformed Traffic Control Devices Part 3 Works on Roads
• Approved attire for Traffic Controllers
• Authority to control traffic
• Maximum speed limit for controlling traffic
• Responsibility for Traffic Controller Ahead/Prepare To Stop signs
• Location of traffic control station
• Correct procedures for controlling traffic
• Communication with the public
• Two-way radio communications
• Controlling traffic at night
• Reporting offenders
• Removing or covering signs when not controlling traffic
Course Delivery
The course will be delivered in two parts through on and off the job training over the following duration:
Part 1 – Classroom (8 hours)
The knowledge component will be delivered in a classroom environment using the TMR approved training resources. A simulated practical component is also included In the off-thejob training. The training will be delivered as per the lesson plan supplied by TMR.
The practical off-the-job component will be delivered in a controlled simulated environment.
Part 2 – On-the-job (20 hours)
Students must be employed and complete a minimum of 20 hours practical experience in the workplace under the supervision of a certified Traffic Controller; one-on-one and within 3 metres of the trainee. Confirmation and supply of onthe-job hours is the responsibility of the employer.
Assessment
The minimum assessment requirements for the course will be through the use of:
1. Written assessment
2. Workplace Logbook
3. Simulated Practical Observation Checklist
4. Assessors On Site Final Assessment Checklist
Participants must have sound literacy skills to successfully complete the course.
Prerequisite Requirements
• Must have held an Australian or foreign drivers licence for a period of twelve months within the last five years
• Must have successfully completed the CPCCOHS1001A- Work safely in the construction industry (white card) or equivalent course
Course Award
• Upon completion of Part 1 classroom training, students will be issued with a Statement of Attendance
• Upon completion of Part 2 On-the-job (20 hours supervisedpractical experience) and final on-site assessment by anapproved Traffic Controller instructor/assessor students will be issued a Statement of Attainment for RIIOHS205.
The Statement of Attainment is needed to apply for a Traffic Controller licence at a Qld Government customer service centre.
APPROVED TRAFFIC CONTROLLER REFRESHER COURSE - As per current Qld
Legislation
This refresher course is targeted at persons who hold a current Traffic Controller certification.
Prerequisite Requirements
• Must have held an Australian or foreign drivers licence for a period of twelve months within the last five years
• Must have successfully completed the CPCCOHS1001A- Work safely in the construction industry (white card) or equivalent course
• Must hold a current Traffic Controller certification card
Course Delivery (4 hours )
To maintain current accreditation, licensed Traffic Controllers must undergo refresher training every three (3) years.
If this course (RIIOHS205A) has been completed previously, the minimum assessment requirements for the course will be through completing:
1. Written assessment requirements of the full course
2. Simulated Practical Observation Checklist as per the requirements of the full course
